Farewell my friend...

To my owner,

When I won races and brought you glory,

you cheered and praised me. My owner.

When I could no longer race and had to retire,

you cast me aside and abandoned me. My owner.

Alas, when I was into the twilight and breathed my last,

you were unaware as you have forgotten me. My owner.

Noah's Ark Horses: Whatmore

Name: Whatmore

Birthdate: 5 May 1998

Color: Brown

(Mixed black and brown hairs; black mane, tail and legs)

Breed: Thoroughbred

Arrived at Noah’s Ark: October 2008

When Whatmore’s owner made Singapore his home, he came along to Singapore from India and started his racing career at the Singapore Turf Club. Like most race horses, by the age of 7 to 9 years old, they would be deemed too old to race and would be forced to retire or be deleted and send to the zoo. If the horse is sent to the zoo as food source, it will have to be shot.

Some race horses are lucky to have a second chance in life at a riding school but most will end up as meat to the zoo animals. Whatmore is one of the lucky ones who got to spend the rest of his life in the sanctuary, living happy and free.
