Bassett Hound abanoned at a carpark

Hi, my name is Big Ben.
I recovered under the care of my caregiver, Raymund, and I am thankful he took me in and saved my life. Without him, I will not be running and playing with my friends at Noah's Ark.

I was abandoned at a car park in Malacca and my cruel owner expect me to find my way around. Just because she refused to have me treated for the stones in my bladder she conveniently dumped me on the streets.

I wonder how could she ever live with the guilt. Well, that's the past and we all have to move on. I was given a second chance and I am grateful for being alive today.

If you visit the sanctuary - remember to come and say hi to me.

Do you want to be my God Ma or God Pa and sponsor my stay at Noah's Ark for S$50 a month pls email to noahsarkcares@gmail.com

I am looking forward to having a God Parent.

Lots of love and licks
Big Ben

No More Misery For These Dogs!

Acting on a complaint by an expatriate working in Johor Bahru, Noah's Ark team did a site visit and found out these dogs were living under appalling conditions.

They are being tied up with a short chain, too tied to be comfortable for the dogs, constricting the throat so much that one of the dog has difficulty in swallowing his food.
The veterinary department was called in to give them a warning. We have removed four out of nine of their dogs for medical and sterilization. All of them are emaciated and with bad skin condition. Malnourishment! The remaining five dogs will be removed by this weekend.
One of the female dog has a growth on the vulva and it is called TVT (Transmissible Vaginal Tumour). It's very contagious and can be transmitted through sexual contacts. If untreated they will go through a slow painful death.
A special thanks goes out to Mr. John Campen for his concern and making a report.
Lets us all take a minute or two to pray and ask God to send his guardian angels to look after all the animals in the world who are  going through misery.

"Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our friends the animals, especially for animals who are suffering; for animals that are overworked, underfed and cruelly treated; for all wistful creatures in captivity that beat their wings against bars; for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry; for all that must be put death. We entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity, and for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words. Make us, ourselves, to be true friends to animals, and so to share the blessings of the merciful. Amen!"

Noah's Ark TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) Program

These cats were rounded by the Malacca town council and they were on death roll by the end of each week. They were brought to our ABC (Animal Birth Control) Clinic to be sterilized under the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) program.

Their left ear tip will be notched as a marking to indicate that they have been sterilized. Eventually, all these cats will be rehomed.

If you would like to help contribute to this cause with any kind amount to defray the costs of a full-time veterinarian, surgeries and other medical expenses, below are the details. Thank you.

Noah's Ark Natural Animal Sanctuary (NANAS) 2013 Calendar is on Sale

In this issue, we celebrate the sanctuary - the ark of life and love - where the animals we have saved have found forever homes in either the sanctuary or with a family.

Not to forget the sterilisation project and why it is absolutely necessary. In all, it represents the hard work, sweat and sometimes, tears of volunteers who are sensitive towards the cries of neglected and abandoned animals.

Each calendar costs RM25 and be assured that it will go a long way towards helping the animals.

To get your hands on this calendar please call +60197159199 (during office hours) to place your orders.

Noah's Ark would like to wish everyone a blessed New Year.

Noah's Ark A.B.C (Animal Birth Control) Mobile Clinic

Noah's Ark A.B.C has been going mobile to help control pet overpopulation and improve the well-being of both animals and communities by providing spay/neuter programmes, basic care and animal welfare education to those in need.

This "spay-shuttle" is a 20 feet long caravan equipped with a surgical suite, which also doubles up as a mobile adoption centre.

The Spay Shuttle provides free spay/neuter services for street cats and dogs and lower-income pet owners. Most owners from this demographic group cannot afford to have their pets sterilised; hence this collaborative programme launched by Noah's Ark is working to change this through a holistic and community-wide-approach.

Noah's Ark administers the programme with the help of contributions and donations it receives from supporters, volunteers and friends. This helps to defray the costs of a full-time veterinarian, surgeries and other medical expenses.

With this project-based programme, cats and dogs can now be sterilised in public places, such as warongs, gerais, kampungs, bus terminals, schools and resorts.

Noah's Ark A.B.C will be heading soon to Larkim Central Johor to sterilize the stray cats and to educate to all pet owners to be responsible on sterilising their pets.

For our "spay-shuttle" service, please call Helpline +60197159199 (during office hours)

STERILISATION IS THE ONLY WAY TO REDUCE OUR STREET ANIMAL POPULATION!
