Wildlife Rescue at Noah's Ark - Meet Mocha
Tuesday, 4 November - a long tail marque was found clinging on to his dead mother on a busy street. Obviously both were hit and run motor accident victims. He was lucky to survive and he had sustained a broken hind leg. The macaque was brought to the sanctuary clinic in the morning by a farmer for treatment.
After a physical examination and suspecting that he has no other injuries, he was given a course of antibiotics and analgesic till he is well enough for surgery.
A compassionate veterinarian Dr Kesia from Mount Pleasant East Coast will be operating on him when he is ready for surgery.
In reality, the wildlife department will euthanized them because it is their protocol regarding wildlife cases with such injuries. Noah's Ark Natural Animal Sanctuary will be his loving home with a happy ending.
We have named him Mocha and he can join Noah's Ark coffee club with Starbucks and Latte.

Fiddler on the Roof - Part 2
Remember the wild macaque that entered into Raymund's kitchen one morning asking for help?
Today, we have officially given him a name "Moses" and he likes his name.

Raymund told him that when he gets better we will release him back into the plantation. Moses said "No Uncle Raymund, I want to stay here."
We have a feeling Master Latte, our PR Manager (also a macaque) must be telling Moses how good and wonderful life is at Noah's Ark.
Moses a macaque from the wild - allows Raymund to change his dressing for his wounds.
Master Latte must also be telling Moses - you better cooperate with Uncle Raymund if you want to stay and be nice to him.

Fiddler on the roof

| 26 April, the macaque was found sitting on the store room roof at Noah's Ark. |
On 26 April, a macaque was sitting on the roof of Noah's Ark store room - from a distance we could see that it was injured and hungry.
How do we attend to an injured macaque?
The only thing we could do was to give him some fruits and he was contented.
Since then he disappeared, and a few days later he came back and this time the workers spotted him on the kitchen roof.
We would love to help him - but it was impossible for us to get on top of the roof to attend to a wild macaque. What if the workers get bitten or attacked?

29 April morning - the wild macaque that never had any human contact - entered into Raymund's kitchen (where Raymund normally prepares his meals) to ask for help. The workers managed to carry him and placed him into a cage and brought it to the clinic.
Raymund attended to the macaque, he found several wounds on his legs and he got bitten badly on his right arm by some factory dogs at an oil palm plantation near Noah's Ark. The workers have seen him hanging around in the area.
We will do our best to provide the necessary medical care and treatment for him.
It's amazing - that a wild animal will approach you to ask for help.
Surprisingly this evening, when Raymund greeted him, the macaque gave his hand to Raymund to thank him.
Animals have their special ways of showing appreciation and they teach us so much that we take things for granted.
"We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude." - Cynthia Ozick

An Ode To A Legless Monkey Named Berry
I saw this cute little fler at Noah's Ark Natural Animal Sanctuary (NANAS) last weekend. Out of the blue, I got an inspiration to write a little poem for this little fler when I got back to KL. LOL!
I'm no poet but I hope the rhymes are OK. ENJOY!
Send some love and supports to Berry by donating to NANAS. Call Mr. Raymund Wee at +60197159199 for details.
Note: NANAS is a no kill animal sanctuary situated in Johor. Currently providing shelter to abandoned and abused animals like dogs, cats, rabbits, horses and now a legless monkey named Berry too.
I'm no poet but I hope the rhymes are OK. ENJOY!
Meet the latest resident in NANAS named Berry
He's a two month old long tailed monkey
How he ended in NANAS is a tragic story
Read on about him while I attempt myself at poetry...
A few weeks back he was crossing the highway
with his family just like any other sunny day
Suddenly a car sped by and knocked him astray
Turning a fine sunny day into a distressed MayDay.
He was thrown into the air and landed on the ground
His mother was on the other side making screaming sound
The driver stopped and turned around
But nothing much he could do as Berry was hit badly down.
You could call Berry a lucky monkey
At the same place and the same time, came pass Mr. Raymund Wee
He saw what happened, he saw the tragedy
He offered his help and took Berry back to the sanctuary
For a tiny monkey, Berry was extremely brave
He fought for his live, and never give a bye bye wave.
But even though Berry was rescued from an early grave
His two hind legs were too damaged to be saved
So, off they went to cut of his legs
Oh I wonder how much more his frail little body could take
But his spirit no one could not break
And his will to live no one could shake
Now, He moves around by pushing his body with his arms
Kept in a cage to keep him away from harm
This little monkey does has his own charm
He's a bit shy but you could allow him to eat from your palm.
Though Berry might not be able to climb another tree
Or swing from a vine to another like in National Geography
But I hope in NANAS he will be happy
He is a true survivor, a legless monkey named Berry.
